4 Ways to Encourage Positive Parenting to Your ChildOn August 3, 2017 by Sharon Taberski
As your children grow older, their attachment will start to grow apart or even become less interested in things you used to do together. While you may not be able to see it now, make it your goal to build a strong relationship with your child to provide a foundation of confidence and trust.
Here are 5 ways to encourage positive parenting to your child.
Even as your child grows to be self-sufficient, make time to play or spend the day together. Resist the urge to agree to more playdates than you should.
Develop Family Rituals
Make rituals that include the entire family. From family meetings to Sunday brunches, anything you can do together as a family – do it. Whatever works for your family will help create a strong connection for years to come. The more they are incorporated into your routine, the more everyone will look forward to them.
Encourage Problem-solving and Negotiating Skills
While it often exhausting to negotiate with your child, there are some parents who believe that the secret to building positive relationships is to allow them their space to lead. Do you think that children should just follow orders and always do what they are told? You might leave them at risk of the pressures of peers who insist on doing things they shouldn’t. Not to mention, children who do exactly what they are told end up following those he shouldn’t.
Teach Them to Speak Up
You don’t want your child to grow up feeling powerless. Instead, uplift them to do what they feel it right and open their mouths when they need to stand up and take action. While they shouldn’t be taught to get what they want through whining, allow them to learn how to make good arguments with a reasonable tone.
Allow your family to have a few days off where they don’t have to do anything. No soccer games, no trips to the groceries, or even the mall. Allow them to make their day off worth their time and creativity. You might even enjoy turning the living room into a forest while watching the Jungle book with them.
